For experienced fencers there is also the option to join one of the clubs fencing teams and compete against other universities.
Glasgow University Fencing Club Currently has 3 fencing teams: A Womens First team and a Mens first and second team. Both the first teams have been extremely successful in recent years and are amongst the highest BUCS-point scoring teams at Glasgow University.
Womens First Team
2016-2017: 5th in the Scottish 1A league
2017-2018: 3rd in the Scottish 1A league, Quarter finals of the BUCS trophy
2018-2019: 2nd in the Scottish 1A league, Semi finals of the BUCS trophy
Mens First Team
2016-2017: 2nd the Scottish 1A league
2017-2018: Winners of the Scottish 1A league, Winners of the BUCS trophy
2018-2019: Winners of the Scottish 1A league, Winners of the BUCS trophy, Promoted to Premiership
As well as team competitions there are also a number of Individual Student Competitions that fencers can enter. For Beginners and Intermediate fencers there are the Beginner and Intermediate Championships and for more advanced fencers the Scottish Student and BUCS Individual Championships. Finally we also encourage fencers to enter a range of non-student competitions both for fun and to gain experience.
